Based around bold, uniform angles and a sense of solidity, we created a suitably architectural font for global design and engineering consultancy Dar. This provided the building blocks for a brand refresh.


Dar is one of the world’s leading consultancies for engineering, architecture, planning and economics. Operating from 45 offices in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe, it has helped over 950 different clients in 63 countries. Dar employs 6,900 staff and runs five design centres in London, Beirut, Cairo, Pune and Amman.

The Brief

As part of their brand refresh, Dar was keen to move forward with a unique bespoke font. This was to be used mainly for bold headlines and needed to feel right for the various specialist industries it serves.

  • Delivery

    Our visual idea was based on an active grid created through processing — an active, dynamic, living identity. Our brief to F37 was to create an accompanying headline typeface inspired by the grid and logo. The result was something bold and unique; very fitting for one of the world’s largest, most pioneering design and engineering businesses.

    We were approached by Wolff Olins to create a custom font based on a logo they had previously designed. This featured distinctive 45° and 90° angles, which needed to be reflected in the lettering.

    Dar’s architectural and engineering expertise was showcased typographically through cleverly composed, angular characters.
